Picklist and lookup-API's provide often used information that is typically used for the build of dropdown or selection lists. Either conditional or not. However its use is beyond the scope of the dropdown or selection lists. Popular usage is:

  • Scripted search fields
  • Dropdown or select boxes
  • Input validation
  • Conditional checks

It is somewhat picklist-dependent but most picklist API-calls provide two key values, a numeric value and a name describing the value. Typically the order of results is sorted by the numeric value. However in some cases the order of the results is defined by a 'weight' value which is controlled by the Acumulus account owner.
